Attila's Invasion of Gaul
In 451 CE, Attila the Hun invaded Gaul, but was defeated at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains by a coalition of Romans under Aetius and Visigoths under Theodoric.
Outcome
The battle checked Attila's westward expansion and demonstrated the possibility of Roman-barbarian cooperation against a common threat.
