Latelle seems to bring the ringmaster’s authority with her: a hard, watchful presence whose gaze makes warmth feel like a privilege. Sequins catch the light around her, but there is nothing soft in the set of her face.

Latelle is Varlan Luca’s wife and a bear trainer whose hard-eyed authority helps keep order within the traveling show. She meets Mat with open hostility, her manner as unyielding as her expression. In her glittering costumes, she remains a severe and unmistakable presence among the performers.
Description
Latelle has sharply defined, hard features and a firm, unsmiling mouth beneath a severe, watchful gaze. Her build and coloring are not specified, but her bearing is rigid and authoritative. She wears ornate stage clothes, including a dress covered in crimson sequins and a black velvet cloak embroidered with bright blue sequins. The glitter of her costume only sharpens the impression of a woman who tolerates little foolishness.
