Luca begins as the flamboyant master of a traveling show, turning every street and introduction into a performance. Proud of his troupe and his own theatrical importance, he charms, cajoles, and fusses over the people around him while guarding his business with a keen eye for expense. His bright, extravagant persona remains his signature: a showman whose life is lived as though the curtain might rise at any moment.
Description
Valan Luca is tall and lean, with a proud, upright stance that makes even an ordinary walk look like a procession. His most striking garment is a richly embroidered dark-red cloak, worn close around him in cold or damp weather; earlier, its scarlet brightness and golden suns make it unmistakably theatrical. He moves with sweeping, practiced gestures and the air of an actor perpetually taking a bow. His expressive face readily turns flushed or pinched, completing the impression of a vain, vivid showman.
