Heraclianus served as Praetorian Prefect under Gallienus, using his position of trust to orchestrate a conspiracy alongside Marcian and Cecrops. His role in this plot against the emperor represented the perennial danger of ambitious military officers who saw the imperial throne as the ultimate prize for their service.
Description
Heraclianus embodies the image of a Roman military commander elevated to high office, with a square, determined face and the solid build of a career soldier. His short-cropped dark hair and weathered features speak of years in the field, while his sharp, assessing eyes suggest political as well as military acumen. He wears the distinctive armor and purple-edged cloak of a praetorian prefect.
