Veil is a major character in The Stormlight Archive (Book 4).

Gender: female
First appears: Book 4 · Ch. 2
Books: 1

Veil is one of Shallan’s distinct personas, a lighteyed woman who uses Lightweaving to assume disguises, including that of the lowborn merchant Chanasha Hasareh. She moves through unfamiliar settings with a reed and an account satchel, and her outward composure sometimes gives way to wonder and confusion. Over the course of the story, the boundaries between Veil and Shallan shift, leaving Veil’s role transformed as Shallan faces what her divided selves mean.

Description

Veil’s appearance is deliberately changeable, and she is seen wearing the face of Chanasha Hasareh, a lowborn lighteyed merchant. In another familiar presentation she has long dark hair and wears trousers, a buttoned shirt, boots, and a wide-brimmed hat with a peaked front; a long white coat may hang nearby. She carries a reed in her pocket and uses a satchel for accounts. Her overall presence is practical and watchful, with an ease that suggests she can adapt her look to the moment.
