Beldair is the senior cook in the household, a practical woman whose authority is earned through years of keeping a busy kitchen in order. Her firm manner makes her a memorable presence among those who pass through the household, even when her role remains behind the scenes. She represents the steadfast, everyday labor that continues while larger powers contend around her.
Description
Beldair is a very plump, relatively tall woman by Cairhienin standards, with a substantial, sturdy frame. Grey strands peek from beneath her simple white lace cap, framing a mature face with a brisk, authoritative expression. She wears a dress beneath a white cook’s apron, the clean, practical uniform of a senior kitchen worker. Her commanding posture makes her seem taller still.
